The problem today is that we are developing into an anxiety society. There is no time and little room for fine nuances and soft tones as these could signal weakness.

"Blind Date" is an experiment that deals with the question: To what extent are we willing to let what kind of things get to us personally when we open ourselves to something or someone strange? How much do we disguise ourselves when we reach out to each other and what risks are we still prepared to take today when we really see and touch each other?

The new millennium promises even faster and more sophisticated telecommunica­tions technologies, which will make it possible for us to get in touch with each other very easily and very conveniently. However, this contact — detached from the sense of smell and touch or anything physical — will seemingly turn into/take on an abstract form. When technology also starts taking these senses away from us, there will be a danger that we will become individuals without individual characteristics. We will look without seeing. We will sniff something without smelling it. We ourselves will become abstract forms and what are in reality only aids to communication will become more vital than we are.
